First, this book is SO nice to look at. The layout of each page along with the pictures and infographics make it so that you actually WANT to go through the whole thing!! 😍 When you get past how pretty it all is, there is actually some really great information in here that is easily digestible and extremely useful. By first starting out with defining what protein is and why it’s so important in our diets, you get a deeper appreciation for the rest to come. As a personal trainer with a lot of plant-based clients, I found that this book has been extremely useful in not only learning for myself, but can be a great teaching tool for my clients as well. I am very happy to have to have this in my arsenal as a fun and effective learning tool.

I discovered Maya on IG last year and lived some of the things she posted about, so I’ve been super excited to try these recipes since I found out about the book. It’s been a few days and I must say, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how easy these have been to prep!

Maya A. Howard's High-Protein Plant-Based Diet for Beginners is near perfection; near only because I have a personal preference of more pictures (even if they are small) so I can visually take in the recipes. Even without the pictures this cookbook is still getting a 5 star from me because of the way Maya lays it all out for a beginner. The best part of this book is not only is there a 4-week meal plan, something that can help take the planning out of it for a new-to plant-based lifestyle and make it easier to stick to, but it includes a shopping list, a time line for when to prepare dishes, and incorporates leftovers as a part of the plan with plenty of variety so it doesn't get repetitive. Maya takes the guess work out of what for some can be a huge change from their lifestyle. I have been vegan (not 100% WFPB) for the better part of two years, this book lays it out in an easy way that can help me make that transition to more WFPB choices into my life.
